Job Description

As a Utility Locator, you will be responsible for correctly, safely, and efficiently locating underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. You will thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary documentation, and photographing each locate.

Responsibilities

  • Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
  • Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area.
  • Accurately mark the location of utilities, complete necessary documentation, and photograph each locate.
  • Adhere to daytime, full-time position requirements with overtime as needed.
  • Ensure a 48-hour turnaround time on most locates, working the day after holidays and some weekends, as necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in telecommunication, OSP, construction, utility locating, GIS, and surveying.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, walk, and bend.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
  • Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous outdoor experience is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
