DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Fulfillment Technology (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. We are responsible for scalable and innovative solutions to enable fulfillment of millions of items every day across the globe. Our team owns the charter to make the AFT WMS more accessible and flexible for emerging markets and businesses. We are leading several key initiatives and are looking for a senior engineering leader who can lead a growing team to deliver them. The ideal candidate will have a combination of strong business understanding and broad technical knowledge and experience. This person is someone who enjoys understanding a variety of business problems, come up with technical solution options to solve them, and can influence senior business and technical leaders to get these solutions delivered. If you like working independently in such a setup to deliver critical business goals, then this is the place for you.

Key job responsibilities

  • Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
  • Manage multiple high performing teams, possibly even a remote team with global scope
  • Manage overall software development life-cycle via your leaders
  • Create, prioritize, communicate, manage, and execute roadmaps, project plans, and commitments
  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
  • Work closely with Sr. Engineers and Team Leaders to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
  • Hire, coach, and mentor individuals; build a strong cross-functional organization
  • Interface with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes
  • Propose and implement new projects or recommend system improvements.
  • Own all operational metrics and support
  • Have the obsession to drive a better customer experience through everything that we do here at Amazon
  • Bring innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better ways of accomplishing our customer objectives
  • Set clear, measurable quality goals for an organization in a data-driven way

External Fulfillment

AFT’s External Fulfillment team builds flexible, scalable solutions specifically designed for the needs of Amazon’s emerging markets and businesses.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams
  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $198,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
