About the Team

Workday’s Business Technology (BT) organization continues its mission to deliver unparalleled value to our business partners and customers. To support this mission, the BT Strategy team is responsible for developing the long-term vision for BT, setting goals and objectives, and ensuring that we have the right plans in place to move with speed at scale. The team collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, business partners, and executives to understand the needs and priorities of the business, and supports the development of strategies that will help BT meet those needs.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to lead the development and implementation of a robust Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) framework within Workday’s Business Technology (BT) organization. As the lead of both the SDLC and Business Systems Analyst (BSA) Center of Excellence, you will play a critical role in driving maturity, standardization, efficiency, and innovation in the BT organization’s operations. This role requires a strong leader with exceptional communication, problem solving, collaboration, and mentorship skills.

Key Responsibilities:

SDLC Framework Development & Implementation:

  • Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive SDLC framework that aligns with industry best practices and meets the specific needs of the BT organization.
  • Define clear processes, standards, and guidelines for each phase of the SDLC, encompassing requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms to track SDLC performance, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate value to the organization.
  • Drive adoption of the SDLC framework across all BT initiatives, ensuring consistent and standardized practices.

SDLC Center of Excellence (CoE):

  • Lead and mentor a team (dotted line reporting) to provide guidance, support, and training on the implementation and operations of the SDLC framework.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the SDLC CoE, encouraging innovation, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in the SDLC space, recommending updates and enhancements to the framework as needed.

BSA Center of Excellence (CoE):

  • Lead and mentor a team of Business Systems Analysts (dotted line reporting) to drive standardization, maturity, and innovation.
  • Develop a strategic roadmap for the BSA CoE that outlines key initiatives and goals to drive BSA maturity across the BT organization.
  • Define and implement standards and best practices for business analysis activities.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including architects, security SMEs, program managers, BSAs, developers, testers, business partners, and senior leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, providing clear and concise updates on SDLC and BSA initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote understanding and adoption of SDLC and BSA best practices.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in software development and/or business analysis, with a consistent track record of successfully implementing SDLC frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of various SDLC methodologies and their practical application.

Other Qualifications:

  • Agile / SCRUM experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects from conception to completion, consistently delivering measurable results and taking accountability for outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement, analyze current processes, and develop and implement effective solutions, without waiting for direction.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations, taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion.
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams, preferably in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter who thinks strategically, creatively solves problems and has a growth mindset.
  • Affinity for technology and innovation, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $140,800 USD - $211,200 USD

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $133,800 USD - $237,600 USD
