Job Title: 5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operator

Job Description

We are seeking skilled 5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operators to join our team for 2nd or 3rd shifts. This role involves setting up and operating a variety of 5 & 3 axis machines to produce precision parts, utilizing precision instruments to ensure product conformance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining machine tools and ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or calipers and portable CMM or FARO.
  • Machine parts to specifications using 5 & 3 axis machines.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools for precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines per setup documentation.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed parts for defects and ensure conformance to customer requirements using precision instruments.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine product conformance.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions and determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Confirm with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel to verify technical information.
  • Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to make or repair customer products.
  • Dispose of scrap or waste material following company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability per Kaizen process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience running 3, 4, and 5 axis numerical control machines preferred
  • Experience with Mazak, 4 Axis, 5 Axis, Set-up, G&M codes, Fanuc Controls, Haas Controls, Haas Mill, Height Gauges, Micrometers, Calipers, Deburring Parts, Smooth X Controls, Vortex i-630V
  • Experience with Siemens Controls

Work Environment

The work environment is a machine shop and sub-assemblies for aerospace, SpaceX, military projects, etc. The 2nd shift operates Monday-Thursday from 4:15pm-2:45am, and the 3rd shift runs Friday-Sunday from 4am-4:30pm. Employees working all three full days on the 3rd shift receive an extra 4 hours as comp time. All new employees undergo 6-8 weeks of training before transitioning to their assigned off-shift to learn the processes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
