CAFETERIA AIDE III (0409)
BOE NUTRITION CENTER
10-MONTH POSITION, 40-HOURS PER WEEK
SALARY/STEP: $39,003.00 (STEP 1) *
CURRENT MEMBERS OF NAGE R1-200 WILL BE GIVEN FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.
REQUIREMENT:
- Candidates must have and maintain Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification.
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
JOB SUMMARY:
Cooking food for all phases of cafeteria operations using established menus and recipes. Oversee the location as the lead and supervise the staff provided. Food quality and food temperature controls; cares and cleans all equipment used in operations; Adheres to all USDA and Connecticut program regulations. Must be capable to effectively supervise personnel and keep records as required. Computer skills are required. Cook Manager reports to designated School Site Supervisor, who in turn reports to the Director. Substitutes for Cafeteria Aide IV when required.
WORK PERFORMED:
- Collaborates with supervisor in meal preparation. Minimizes food waste; recommends new recipes and innovations to current menus and recipes.
- Responsible for completing required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as meal count sheets, inventory, cash reports, production record, edit check sheet and all other reports requested.
- Forecasts quantity of food to prepare. Cooks, heats, and/or packages product according to projections and recipes.
- Follows and adheres to standardized recipes, slices meats, mixes and prepares foods, operates kitchen equipment necessary for food preparation.
- Prepares and orders food and supplies using the correct software program or proper forms.
- Oversees and coordinates the schedule and work of all kitchen personnel in compliance with departmental policy.
- Receives, maintains, and stores all food, supplies and equipment in a sanitary and orderly fashion (FIFO).
- Maintains proper usage and storage of chemicals and MSDS sheets as well as instructing staff on proper usage.
- Responsible for training new employees in the school
- Responsible for conducting staff meetings as needed.
- Responsible for assorted tasks during any shutdown periods.
- Controls quality and quantity of food prepared and served utilizing Offer vs. Serve
- Exercise good verbal and written skills when communicating with the public. Including but not limited to students, staff, school personnel, and Supervisors.
- Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and POS system.
- Ability to learn any new software system implemented by the Nutrition department.
- Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in all kitchen work areas including food service equipment and storerooms.
- Maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs all duties as assigned.
- May be required to replace or relieve Cafeteria Aide IV.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Schedules and supervises Cafeteria Aide I, Cafeteria II and Cafeteria Assistants work assignments.
- Performs all assigned duties promptly and accurately.
- Responsible for general cleanliness of kitchen areas.
- Must adhere to current uniform requirements including no jewelry or nail polish.
- Must be honest, accurate and accountable.
