TxDOT's Fort Worth District is looking for an Operations and Maintenance Project Manager based in Fort Worth, TX. Position Description

Performs highly advanced and complex project management work and provides guidance and direction in project development. Manages alternative delivery projects in multiple functional areas. Oversees and administers the pre-procurement and procurement aspects of alternative delivery projects. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Reports to the Program Manager. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

A day in the Life of an Alternative Delivery Project Manager may include:

  • Oversight of maintenance contracts for Alternative Delivery projects
  • Interpreting and managing maintenance contracts
  • Review Payment requests/invoices
  • Negotiation of change orders
  • Manage consultant resources
  • Review/Observe maintenance activities in the field
  • Review traffic and revenue reports
  • Review traffic control plans and set up in the field
  • Attend and contribute to safety improvements on maintenance projects
  • Perform outreach with municipalities and stakeholders (NTTA,NCTCOG)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 6 years experience in transportation planning or design; project or contract management or related activities. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Competencies:

  • State, county and local government operations and metropolitan planning organizations or regional mobility authorities affecting highway and transportation development and operations
  • Applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements
  • Construction engineering policies and procedures
  • Project changes (scope, budget, schedule, resource management) using a critical path method enterprise information system management tool
  • Enterprise CPM schedule and resource management practices, procedures, and guidelines
  • Cost estimating and cost controls
  • Risk analysis procedures and methods
  • Contract interpretation and oversight
  • Contract development and management policies and procedures
  • Negotiating settlement of differences without damaging relationships; applying effective questioning and listening techniques to determine other parties' positions in a direct and diplomatic manner

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
