Hiring Range: $65,748 – $101,920
Work Day/Hours: 8am - 5pm

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for providing enterprise GIS support to the TS GIS Manager for the Technology Solutions (TS) department. Duties include providing technical support by creating, editing, and maintaining GIS data, developing standard and custom GIS Web maps, applications, and services. This position ensures data accuracy, compatibility, consistency, and standardization free from spatial, data, topological and other conflicts and errors. Additionally, this may include providing assistance with computer-related programs, developing maps and apps, and completing special projects.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintains GIS data accuracy, compatibility, consistency, and standardization free from spatial, data, topological and other conflicts and errors.
- Works on GIS projects by assisting with defining project needs; specifying datasets; selecting or creating databases; conducting data analyses; and creating mapping needs, presentations, and other documents.
- Coordinates and facilitates special projects by attending meetings; preparing and presenting demos; interacting with vendors; providing staff training; and writes GIS technical reports when required.
- Interacts with departments and GIS users supporting and enabling GIS best practices and QA/QC workflows; preparing and presenting demos; interacting with vendors; providing staff training; and writing reports.
- Provides software support by writing documentation; conducting training; upgrading software; providing technical support; and assisting with defining streamlined workflow.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide end-user support for GIS applications, with a focus on public safety needs.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in geography (GIS concentration), information technology, or computer science.
- Two years of experience in a GIS related field .
- Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
- Proficient skills in Esri
Additional Preferred Skills
- GISP - certified geographic information systems (GIS) professional preferred.
- Proficient in a variety of Esri mapping solutions and applications.
- Experience with enterprise management systems and mapping integration
- Experience enterprise data management
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2–5 years of professional GIS experience, preferably in a local government or public safety environment.
- Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems, and other public safety technologies.
- GISP Certification (or actively pursuing certification).
- Knowledge of data quality assurance methods and editing practices for key datasets such as street centerlines and addresses.
