The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Key Responsibilities Key Tasks and Duties:
- Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math; proving part programs
- Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, and tools
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to quality standards
- Maintains specifications by observing grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting offsets; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
- All other duties as required
CNC Machine Operator Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to effectively operate and maintain forklift equipment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend direction in both written and verbal form
- Proficient with using measuring devices preferred
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Deftness and attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year experience in a similar role
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking for extended periods
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
Hours:
- Full Time
- 40 Hours Minimum
- Monday through Thursday 8:00AM – 4:30pm
