We are looking for an individual to join our team as Quality Assurance Manager at our Technical Services Center. This role is responsible for managing quality systems installation, development of quality assurance procedures, and performance of quality audits of on-site and off-site organizations to ensure compliance with established procedures, policies, and governing company and customer requirements.

The principal accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
  • Works directly with USPR to resolve complaint and quality issues. This position is the link between ACSC and the USPR Team when it comes to the investigation and the dispute of any issues.
  • Develops policies and procedures to assist in compliance with established Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 21 part 110 Food Safety Modernization Act and with the ACS Policies and Procedures Manual. Recommends action to correct areas of non-compliance.
  • Maintains certification as the company SQF Practitioner with the responsibility and authority to lead the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the Safe, Quality Food System, Food Safety Fundamentals, Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality plan. This includes responsibility to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System. This position communicates to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Interprets and maintains a current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with established regulatory procedures for food safety. This includes coordinating product safety programs, i.e. the HACCP (Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points) program. Reviews the system to ensure corrective actions are responded to and provides recommendations based on audit findings.
  • Administers (audits, maintains and updates) the laboratory quality assurance program including the ACS laboratory quality assurance policies and the laboratory procedures of analysis. Determines variability in procedures and equipment; and authorizes changes in standard procedures. Audit results are reviewed with appropriate factory management and the incumbent reviews and approved corrective actions.
  • Through the Factory Mangers and Factory Chemists, this position provides corporate leadership and direction to each location including policies and procedures for quality control and quality assurance programs at the factory site. Factory management investigates product complaints and determines the appropriate corrective action for review and approval by the Quality Assurance Manager who forwards final resolutions to United Sugars.
  • Review of new process chemical data to assure governmental regulations are met regarding areas and volume usages. Authorizes chemicals for factory use on the Approved Chemical List.
  • Monitors the Trace/Recall system to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the system. Findings and recommendations are provided as necessary.
  • Assists ACSC facilities in identifying and developing necessary training and support to factory personnel of required systems including: all laboratory programs, GMP's, sanitation, audit systems, standardized lab procedures, HACCP and packaging and loading procedures.
  • Leads the development of performance standards based on customer expectations and assists in the development of process specifications to meet expectations. Also provides troubleshooting assistance and recommendations when performance does not meet expectations. Has the authority to prevent shipment of products that do not meet product specifications.
  • Interacts with the microbiological program to ensure process and finished product specifications are met.
  • Leads investigations of customer complaints including determination of cause, proposal of corrective action and follow-up, to include discussions with customers.
  • Responsible for scheduling and attending customer food safety audits. Assists with the investigations of issues found, determining the root cause and corrective action. Attends SSI SQF audits and provides assistance as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this position requires extensive knowledge of chemistry and quality assurance, normally gained through the completion of a four-year college degree with five or more years of relevant experience. Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Practices is required. The incumbent must possess the ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects in various phases of development; complete projects within established time frames; and develop appropriate documentation, procedures, policies, and training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition, the incumbent must possess the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels within the organization, with consultants, customers, and representatives from regulatory agencies.

Compensation Range:

$134,682.81 - $168,353.51 Annual Salary
