About the San Jose Earthquakes:
The San Jose Earthquakes have a mission to establish our home as the epicenter of American soccer by uniting Northern California with big dreams, big hustle, and big impact. We are seeking a high-energy performer to represent our mascot and engage fans at matches and in the community.
About the Position:
The beloved San Jose Earthquakes Mascot, Quakesadus Mascotacus, Q, has been entertaining fans since 2004. A successful candidate should understand the impact of the mascot on the Quakes at games and in the community. This position is part-time and will report to the Coordinator, Grassroots Marketing.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The mascot costume is designed to accommodate individuals between 5’5” and 5’10” in height. Candidates must be able to safely and comfortably perform in this costume.

Responsibilities:
- Perform as Q, the San Jose Earthquakes Mascot, at all home games, internal events, watch parties, booked private events, and community events.
- Work closely with all departments, including Ticket Sales, Sponsorships, Marketing, and Community Relations, to develop new ways each department can leverage the mascot.
- Manage all inbound appearance requests; maintain a calendar of all Q appearances; work with accounting to invoice appearances as needed.
- Work with the grassroots marketing team to prospect new community appearance opportunities.
- Develop content for Q’s social media channel(s).
- Maintain all costume and prop materials to ensure cleanliness and function.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Communicates well non-verbally.
- Experience working with a wide range of individuals from young children to adults.
- Flexibility to work all home games as well as most community and internal events.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, and kneeling.
- Must be able to work in a wide variety of weather conditions and temperatures, indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous mascot experience/training
- Dance/gymnastics skills.
