Compensation: $140,000 - $175,000 per year. You are eligible for a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 7.5% of your annual earnings; terms and conditions apply.

Technical Lead Software Engineering – Remote

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of a Java/Spring full-stack web application in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive development efforts, mentor engineers, and lead new systems which are reliable and high-performance that supports our strategic goals in precision genomics and clinical reporting.

Essential Functions

• Architect, develop, and enhance Java/Spring-based applications to support scientific workflows for variant identification, ranking, and reporting
• Work closely with business systems analysts (BSAs) and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into well-defined technical solutions
• Lead design and development of scalable and maintainable solutions while ensuring system performance and security best practice
• Troubleshoot complex issues, resolve bugs efficiently, and improve system reliability
• Advocate for best practices in software engineering, code quality, and automated testing
• Provide clear, accurate technical insights to cross-functional teams and leadership
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on full-stack application development
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead by example and mentor engineers
• Strong expertise in cloud-based solutions and experience integrating third-party software into existing systems
• Extensive experience in building service-oriented architectures and designing RESTful API services to support scalable and maintainable applications
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently
• Effective communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience and familiarity working in PHP/ Symfony, and or Java / Spring or Go
• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elastic Search etc.)

Preferred

• Master's degree
• Experience in scientific, genomics, or healthcare-related applications is a plus
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
