Job Description Summary

The College of Health Professions seeks a dynamic and experienced Sr. Information Systems/Business Analyst III to lead a 5-person IT team. Reporting to the Director of Education and Information Technology, this role involves overseeing the installation and upgrade of hardware and software, strategic planning for technology initiatives, budgeting and procurement, and maintaining IT architecture across the college. Under general supervision, the Business Analyst III takes a leading role in projects, manages team and project meetings, and offers input on smart solutions to enhance efficiency. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of top-notch technical network services, support faculty and staff, and contribute to the college's educational mission. The role also involves engaging in the transfer of knowledge to departmental peers, including the Instructional Design faculty, while modeling excellent customer service skills through the successful completion of assigned tasks. Qualifications include proven experience in IT team management and project leadership, strong strategic planning and budgeting skills, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical support and services.

Job Duties

30% Strategic Planning, Budgeting, and Procurement

Lead the strategic planning for college-wide technology initiatives by anticipating hardware, software, infrastructure, and networking needs.

Develop and manage the budget for technology purchases, upgrades, and enhancements.

Oversee procurement processes, ensuring cost-effective and timely acquisition of technology resources.

Manage inventory and surplus processes to ensure compliance.

Maintain good relations with college administration, vendors, and technology users.

20% IT Infrastructure Management

Direct the installation and upgrade of the College's hardware and software, including new computer workstations, portable computers, file servers, software, and learning management systems.

Conduct post-installation troubleshooting and provide day-to-day support for faculty and staff.

Assist in technology training for faculty, staff and students.

Maintain good relationships with technology users to ensure optimal service delivery.

20% Administrative and Supervisory Duties

Lead and manage the IT team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Conduct annual reviews of IT team members.

Solicit feedback on team performance from college stakeholders.

Perform additional administrative and management duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of services related to the college’s educational technology.

Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, ensuring that team members are motivated and aligned with the college's goals.

15% IT Architecture and Project Design

Develop and optimize technology solutions for academic programs, research initiatives, and grant-funded projects, ensuring alignment with MUSC standards and emerging technologies.

Lead the strategic planning and execution of IT architecture projects, focusing on scalability, security, and innovation to support the college's long-term objectives and enhance operational efficiency.

10% Technology Maintenance and Security

Supervise and coordinate the maintenance of college-wide servers, ensuring a secure and efficient operating environment.

Oversee network space management, including planning for adequate file storage and retention to meet institutional needs.

Direct and manage the backup processes for college data, ensuring integrity and security through regular audits and compliance with best practices.

5% Other Duties as Assigned

Perform additional administrative, supervisory, and management duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of services related to the college’s educational technology.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics, management information science or a related field and five years experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
