We have a great opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Integration - active TS/SCI clearance in Springfield, VA. The position is required to be onsite.
This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
The Systems Engineer - Integration (SEI) provides a combination of software and systems engineering (SE) knowledge, skills, abilities, standards, and best practices to the Systems Engineering and Architecture Services (SEAS) team. the SEI implements modern and Next Generation (NexGen) IT solutions that leverage a wide array of vendors and technologies across the full-stack: physical, networking, storage, virtualization, servers, applications, and services.
The SEI executes tasks that support the development, maturity, and efficiency, of an information technology system to support the engineering efforts of the program.
Responsibilities
- Capturing, analyzing, and decomposing Government, stakeholder, technical and/or product requirements to develop formal recommendations for proposed solutions.
- Proactively identifying, planning, and implementing solutions that reduce human responsibility and error of related tasks and actions through scripting, automation and orchestration across a variety of vendor platforms.
- Defining and designing baseline/standard service offerings and developing supporting documentation including plans, diagrams, specifications, topologies, and configurations for the current and target-state technology stacks.
- Coding, configuring, optimizing, testing, deploying, and improving both desktop and web-based solutions across enterprise platforms, technologies, and business/proprietary software products.
- Leveraging advanced features and concepts to further enhance and improve existing and new enterprise-grade IT solutions through the introduction of infrastructure as code, Configuration as Code, scripted deployments and installations, and Desired State Configurations.
- Developing technical integration guides, migration plans, and risk assessment/mitigation plans for implementing new or updated technologies.
- Creating presentations, reviewing proposals/change requests, and providing recommendations for topics submitted to the CIO board, including the architecture review board, and program control board as needed.
- Providing reach-back SME support and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle when unforeseen obstacles and complex issues arise.
- Participating in and providing inputs for project management activities, including level of effort estimation, task prioritization, and order of operations.
- Developing and implementing industry best business practices through standards, guidelines, processes and procedures.
- Identifying and reporting on system metrics.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications
- Education: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Bachelor's degree from accredited University. If no degree is held, qualified candidates must possess one of the following certifications:
- Certifications:
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
- Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
- Security Clearance Requirements:

- Experience:
- Shall have seven (7) or more years of proven hands-on experience engineering, implementing and operating enterprise-level operating systems, applications and technologies Cisco, Red Hat, Microsoft, Nutanix, ServiceNow, Ansible, Splunk, Citrix, and/or VMware.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevSevOps).
- Familiarity with the concept, implementation and operations associated with DevSecOps in a hybrid organization, including collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance (O&M), Cybersecurity, and Project Management teams to support complex systems.
- Technical Certifications in other enterprise-level OSs, applications, and technologies, such as Citrix, Cisco, Microsoft, NetApp, Nutanix, Red Hat, Splunk, and/or VMware.
- Skills & Technology Used:
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following areas:
- Capturing, analyzing, and decomposing stakeholder and/or product requirements in order to generate design solutions that will be implemented, tested, and eventually transitioned to the operational environment.
- End-to-end development of coded/scripted solutions using modern scripting languages (implementation, configuration, automation, orchestration, and/or maintenance) of enterprise-grade technologies across a multi-platform information system.
- Implementing, configuring and maintaining Windows and Linux operating systems, services, devices, and applications in production enterprise environments.
- Developing secure software products (client applications, web applications, and automation and/or orchestration scripts) using common/standard programming languages for deployment and utilization across an enterprise-level multi-platform information system.
- Designing, engineering, implementing, and maintaining secure solutions in accordance with DISA STIGs.
- Performing advanced troubleshooting techniques, methodologies, processes and practices to quickly identify and asses an issue, develop the strategy to resolve the issue, implement the resolution, and restore the degraded entity to an operational state.
- Monitoring and assessing information systems for performance degradation, and implementing tuning optimization opportunities.
- Excellent analytical, technical, communication, planning, presentation, and organization skills, with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences both verbally and technically, including internal teams, senior leaders, vendors, partners, customers and stakeholders.
