THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Lead AI Engineer oversees novel projects and AI innovation - from organizational efficiency to personalization. They relish the challenge of a blank page problem, working with previously unexplored data sources, and building out solutions that haven’t been designed yet. Comfortable with varied fields spanning weakly supervised learning, NLP, Computer Vision and more, they are comfortable with picking up new approaches as needed. They write modular and extensible code and rapidly experiment with new ideas. There will be plenty of chances to flex individual skills as well with hands-on development work - more time on keyboard, less time in meetings. As part of the AI/ML team, the candidate should display technical leadership qualities, be versatile and creative, display collaborative qualities and be enthusiastic to tackle challenging problems. They will work alongside other talented AI engineers and Data scientists in our highly collaborative, fast paced and innovation-focused environment to deliver high quality solutions.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

• Partner with AI leadership to help bring Ulta Beauty’s AI and ML capabilities to life through input on the AI/ML CoE roadmap and being a leader on the team of AI engineers
• Lead the design, map out, and implementation of ML solutions to complex business problems
• Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to align AI initiatives with business goals
• Architect and implement scalable AI systems
• Mentor a dynamic team of more junior AI engineers and Data Scientists, conduct code reviews and ensure best practices in AI development
• Provide guidance on data science best practices to leaders across the enterprise.
• Evaluate and recommend AI technologies, frameworks, and tools to maintain cutting-edge capabilities
• Drive experimentation and innovation by staying updated with the latest research in AI, ML, and deep learning
• Ensure ethical AI development and compliance with data privacy regulations
• Engage with business partners to hash out project needs and define project requirements
• Advise on emerging areas of technology and AI
• Present technical results

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

• Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or other quantitative field.
• At least 5-7 years’ experience working in data science, machine learning or AI with demonstrated exceptional performance and career progression.
• Ability to work cross-functionally to understand business goals and communicate solutions that meet the business objectives.
• Production-quality OoP (Python, C++, etc), proficiency in relevant frameworks (scikit learn, TensorFlow, etc).
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (Google Cloud, Azure, and AWS).
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and software engineering principals
• Hands-on experience building ML solutions from inception to launch
• Proven track record of deploying AI models in production environments
• A passion for broadening your technical skills and diving into unknown problems.
• Travel may be required (team collaboration / conferences / vendor meetings).

The pay range for this position is $119,300.00 - $170,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
