Job Description:

As part of the Ressler Gertz Advancing Honors Initiative at Barrett, the Innovation Fellow for Honors Talent Development will lead forward-thinking efforts to align honors education with the evolving needs of the national and global workforce. This fellow will explore current and emerging trends in employment, identify gaps in existing career readiness programming within honors education, and design innovative approaches to better prepare honors students for impactful future careers. The goal of this position is to equip honors students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding needed to lead in rapidly changing professional landscapes.

Essential Duties:

  • Investigate current and projected labor market trends to understand the skills and competencies employers seek now and in the future; engage with industry leaders, alumni, and community partners to integrate real-world insights.
  • Conduct an audit of existing honors and university career readiness programs to identify areas of strength and opportunity
  • Develop scalable strategies and learning experiences that enhance students’ ability to contribute to and shape the future of their fields
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, industry partners, and students to co-design, pilot, and assess new initiatives focused on innovation, leadership, problem-solving, and the ethical use of emerging technologies, including AI. Effectively utilize a budget dedicated to this purpose.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and tools to communicate insights, share best practices, and support the implementation of career-focused innovation in honors education.
  • Undertake grant writing or support fundraising efforts as needed to sustain long-term initiatives

Work Arrangement:

This is a primarily remote position. However, occasional in-person meetings and attendance at select events will be required. Candidates must be able to commute to the Barrett campuses as needed.

Salary: $80,000 -$103,000 per year; DOE

This position is funded in whole or part by sources other than state appropriation and may terminate when funding is no longer available.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate-level education or equivalent experience in workforce development, education innovation, public policy, leadership studies, or a related field.
  • Expertise in industry-higher education partnerships and/or career readiness frameworks
  • Familiarity with experiential learning or honors education.
  • Strong understanding of emerging trends in work, technology (including AI), and the future of leadership.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent research, communication, and project management skills.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • May be required to perform tasks across Barrett campuses.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • This is a fully remote position. The employee will perform all duties from a home-based office or another suitable remote location.
  • Must have a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace to support video calls and uninterrupted work.
  • While the role is remote, availability during standard business hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m. AZ time) is required.
  • Occasional virtual meetings, collaborative projects, and time-sensitive tasks will require responsiveness and regular communication with team members.
  • This position will be issued a college-issued computer and other necessary equipment and software as needed.
