Job Description:

Salary Range: $60,000 - $114,750 per year; DOE

For the past six years, ASU’s Next Education Workforce Initiative has been working with school districts and charter management organizations in Arizona – and now across the U.S. – to envision, design and launch team-based, strategic school staffing models. All told, Next Education Workforce has supported more than 150 schools across nearly 50 districts in 17 states to launch team-based staffing models.

Our team comprises approximately 30 dedicated professionals who bring a range of experience in P-12 education to the work. We have held roles as superintendents, principals, teachers, district leaders, teaching artists and curriculum designers. The person hired for this role will report to the Next Education Workforce Initiative’s Director of Design and collaborate closely with other functional team leaders.

Serving more partners and providing more product offerings, the Next Education Workforce seeks an experienced project manager to design and implement sophisticated systems of project management to organize our product lifecycle. Success in this role requires cross-functional vision and leadership to implement processes that streamline design, implementation, and operations. Having strong systems, tools, and processes in place as we continue to grow will ensure strong operational efficiency as we continue to scale our implementation and design.

As an integral member of the Next Education Workforce team, the Project Manager, Product Life Cycle will work with colleagues and collaborators to:

  • Establish and standardize team tools, systems, and processes to foster efficient and effective cross-team collaboration for product development and scaled learning offerings;
  • Lead large projects such as our 2.0 program offerings and operations plans;
  • Develop deep knowledge of programming and oversee the end-to-end development and maintenance of scaled learning experiences and product offerings;
  • Manage our portfolio of offerings by developing and enabling Product Leads and cross-functional colleagues to execute project plans collaboratively.

Next Education Workforce™ models leverage educator teams to improve student outcomes and teacher working conditions. Schools and systems partner with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College to create learning environments where educators collaborate and students belong. ASU prepares education leaders to design and implement staffing changes that address the root causes of low and inequitable student outcomes and teacher shortages and burnout.

Arizona State University offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes low-cost health benefits for you and your family, disability and leave programs for income protection, reduced tuition for you and your dependents, resources for employees with disabilities and retirement programs designed to promote long-term savings and provide income upon retirement.

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate cross-functional teammates in the process of program codification
  • Facilitate agile iteration by working with implementation and partnerships teammates to ensure continuous feedback loops from pilots, focus groups, professional learning feedback, and coaching observations to inform iterative improvement of the offerings.

  • Support Launch and Scale Readiness by collaborating with internal teams to ensure delivery mechanisms, facilitator capacity, and coaching infrastructure are ready to support scaled adoption of the 2.0 offerings.

Steward Development of Scaled Learning Experiences from Inception to Delivery

  • Oversee the end-to-end development of scaled learning experiences designed to support Next Education Workforce implementation.

  • Offer coaching, training, or structured check-ins to help Product Leads understand and execute their responsibilities.

  • Reduce redundancy by aligning processes, templates, and systems across development of different scaled learning experiences.
  • Synthesize insights from across the portfolio of products to recommend process improvements and increase predictability in product delivery.

  • Cross-Team Leadership and Accountability in Project Management – Proven ability to drive projects forward by ensuring team members complete the right tasks at the right time, proactively managing timelines, dependencies, and deliverables to keep initiatives on track. Skilled in identifying roadblocks, enforcing accountability, and adapting plans as needed to achieve outcomes. Able to develop and guide colleagues with less project management experience to use tools and processes.
  • Dashboard Development and Progress Monitoring – Skilled in designing high-level dashboards and visualizations to inform stakeholders, track interdependent dates and timelines, hold team members accountable for assigned work, and celebrate successful milestone achievements.
  • Sensemaking and Process Standardization – Ability to analyze existing business processes to identify recurring batch processes and high-level milestones, creating standardized approaches that simplify project management across a portfolio of products with similar life cycles from inception to closeout.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience presenting data findings and leading colleagues through on-going processes of data analysis to use programmatic outcomes and user experience to drive both incremental and large-scale change in offerings.
  • Educational Experience: Experience working in PK-12 environments will support better understanding of our partner (user) experience. The ideal candidate will be deeply invested in team-based staffing model programming, resources, and professional learning as a way to support school systems, educators, and learners.
  • Exceptional Communication and Collaboration Skills: Truly excellent verbal and written communication skills that provides clarity and fosters trust across teams. The project manager will not only lead the logistical organization of people around a project, but in many cases will also need to effectively influence and invest colleagues in the process. A truly successful project manager will demonstrate the ability to lead teammates toward a common goal with a shared sense of purpose, joy, and pride in our shared work.
