In this role, you will engage with complex business challenges, harnessing modern tools and technologies to securely store, process, transform, and enrich terabyte to petabyte scale healthcare data. As a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining optimal data pipelines to assemble large and intricate datasets, catering to the business requirements of various CVS lines of business. Collaborating closely with teams, you will craft tools to provide actionable insights and integrate them with consumer touchpoints.

As a Data Engineer, you will:

1. Collect, analyze, and synthesize complex information from disparate sources into a single reporting view/data layer using SQL/ Python/similar tools. Summarize results and present findings to business stakeholders.

2. Conduct analyses of data, ranging from descriptive ad-hoc analyses to in-depth investigations of healthcare utilization trends/outcomes and prepare data summarization for review by leadership team and key stakeholders.

3. Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to conduct quality assurance testing on data from initial delivery to final merged product to ensure results are accurate and aligned with documented requirements.

4. Integrate data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and third-party systems, ensuring consistency and integrity.

5. Monitor and enhance the performance of data storage and retrieval processes within the GCP ecosystem.

6. Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.

7. Develop and maintain ETL processes using Airflow and PySpark to transform raw data into usable formats.

8. Automate ETL workflows to ensure timely and accurate data processing, leveraging Jenkins and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.

9. Implement and optimize data warehousing solutions using BigQuery to support business intelligence and analytics.

10. Build out end to end pipelines to automate patient outreaches for various recruitment activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of business experience leading analyses and initiatives with track record of business impact
  • 1+ years of experience programming using Python or SQL
  • 1+ years of experience in cloud preferably GCP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex systems and solving challenging analytical problems
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within and across teams
  • Knowledge of data visualization and reporting
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipeline, and other DevOps principles/best practices
  • Ability to leverage multiple tools and programming languages to analyze and manipulate data sets from disparate data sources
  • Knowledge of API development
  • Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling
  • Google Professional Data Engineer Certification
  • Knowledge of microservices and SOA
  • Formal SAFe and/or agile experience. Previous healthcare experience and domain knowledge
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems
  • Experience architecting and building data warehouse and data lakes

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Math, or related field: Master’s Degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$79,310.00 - $158,620.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
