Position Information
TxDOT's Fleet Operations Division is looking for an Equipment Mechanic I, II or III based in Odessa, TX.

This position may be eligible for a recruitment bonus of up to $5,000 for a selected candidate who is currently not employed by The Texas Department of Transportation.

Equipment Mechanic I, II, & III
Performs repair/maintenance and inspection related work for fleet vehicles and equipment in the Fleet Operations Division Shop. Work may require maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in construction of highways/bridges and inspecting work performed by contracted vendors. Work may require contact with other governmental agencies and private contractors. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments, however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
No degree/diploma required.
Experience
Equipment Mechanic I - 2 years in Automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair
Equipment Mechanic II - 4 years in Automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair
Equipment Mechanic III - 7 years in Automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics and repair
