Position Overview

The Fleet Technician will support a fleet of production-intent and development vehicles in a fleet-type as well as experimental manner. In this role, the candidate will be able to perform inspections, PMs, diagnosis, and repair of class 4-8 trucks.

This is a 1st shift position based out of our Adavanced Technology Center in Elmendorf, TX.

The hours are 6:30-4pm Monday through Friday

The Fleet Technician needs to be able to follow instructions given to them by direction of different engineering teams and thus be very detail oriented. They need to be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to anticipate next steps. This position requires use of many manufacturers specific software programs as well as internal service tools. The candidate should be able to adequately provide descriptions and reports of issues found in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fleet type maintenance and repairs on class 4-8 trucks
  • Perform Federal Annual Inspections of trucks and trailers
  • Perform fabrication work occasionally
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, with verbal and written instructions
  • Support on location hot and cold weather testing

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience

OR

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, diagnosis and repair
  • Proficient at advanced diagnosis of electrical issues
  • Familiar with performing calibration updates with service tools like Cummins InSIte, NED, or other service tools
  • Familiar with CAN based datalinks and reading communication busses
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with MIG and tig welding
