We're seeking talented software engineers with expertise in Kotlin and a strong Java background to join our Developer Platform team. As part of our mission, you'll design, develop, and scale robust build platforms and tools that will delight our engineering teams and enable rapid iteration across the organization. In this role, you'll contribute to building and maintaining cutting-edge tools, libraries, and services that empower our engineering organizations, helping to shape the future of our developer ecosystem. We create and contribute to open-source software and collaborate with other industry-leading tech companies with the belief that every developer should be productive. **What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points** \-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ---- - Architect and lead the development of tooling and libraries needed to support Uber’s community of Kotlin developers working on large-scale mobile applications and services - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams - Drive best practices in software design, code quality, and system performance - Lead code reviews and champion engineering excellence across the organization - Identify and solve complex technical challenges to optimize application performance and scalability - Collaborate with senior leadership to define technical strategy and roadmap \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- 1. 8+ years of professional software development experience 2. Deep expertise in Kotlin programming and its ecosystem 3. Strong background in Java development and JVM internals 4. Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems or mobile applications 5. Expert knowledge of modern software development practices (e.g., Agile, CI/CD, version control) 6. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills 7. Strong leadership and communication abilities, with experience mentoring junior engineers \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- 01. Experience with modern Android development at scale 02. Experience with Kotlin multi-platform and other cross-platform toolchains 03. Experience with Bazel 04. Experience building IntelliJ Plugins 05. Advanced understanding of microservices architecture, gRPC, and RESTful APIs 06. In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their architectural best practices 07. Expertise in containerization technologies and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) 08. Contributions to open-source projects 09. Experience in performance tuning and optimization of JVM-based applications 10.
