Your Opportunity
Join our dynamic Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) groups in either Fredericton NB or Dartmouth NS as a full-time Intermediate or Senior Electrical Building Services Designer. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our engineering and technical design teams, contributing to innovative projects that make a real impact. Your Key Responsibilities
- Design and design coordination through specifications and drawings of the following industrial and commercial building services:- Lighting systems (high bay, low bay, emergency, exit, roadway, etc.), including preparation and analysis of lighting models.
- Building power distribution (120V receptacles, 480/600V welding outlets, miscellaneous building loads, electrical panels and switchboards, etc.).
- Emergency power systems (generators, transfer switches, UPS units).
- Building perimeter and building structural steel grounding.
- Fire Alarm systems (layouts and riser diagrams of typical fire alarm devices such as pull stations, smoke/heat detectors, horn/strobes, equipment interlocks, etc)
- Security systems (door hardware, camera systems, etc.)
- Public Address / Annunciation systems
- HVAC system power and controls
- Work with clients to solve their problems by assembling and leading project teams. Build the plan, lead the team, manage change along the way, and assure a quality outcome.
- Apply design skills to prepare or coordinate the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
- Collaborate with EI&C group members, other Stantec disciplines, and clients to achieve project success, acting as a project team member or a project leader.
- Successfully carry out assignments on project design teams.
- Assist with field surveys for drawing developments, site reviews and as recorded drawings.
- Effectively communicate with other team members in the department or project team.
- Manage and lead building services aspects of projects.
- Provide technical expertise, mentoring and support to team members.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality controls and procedures on own projects and projects of peers.
- Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for project of all sizes.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- At least 7 years’ experience in the industrial consulting industry or in an industrial environment.
- Must be self-motivated, team oriented, efficient, and a good communicator.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead project teams and activities.
- Strong collaborative skills while working with a single or multi-discipline team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to follow Stantec's quality control guidelines.
- Understanding the importance of complying with Stantec's Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program, with a focus on safety in the field.
- Desire to be mentored by Senior staff and to adapt to feedback as required. Desire to help mentor and coach others and contribute to strengthening the competency and culture of a broader team.
- Capable of working on multiple projects concurrently.
Education and Experience
- Significant experience in industrial and commercial buildings design in the areas of lighting, power distribution, emergency power systems, grounding, fire alarm systems, security systems, annunciation and public address systems, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency with AGi32 lighting modeling software or similar product.
- Registered as a PTech/CET or as PEng with the respective professional associations in either New Brunswick or Nova Scotia.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience is required.
- Additional experience in electrical, instrumentation, and controls design for industrial environments (wood products, pulp & paper, food, power generation/distribution, oil & gas, mining) would be an asset.
- Experience creating tender document packages, including detailed drawings and specifications would be considered an asset.
- Professional Engineer status with any US state licensure board is considered an asset. Successful candidate will primarily work in a flexible office environment. Some field work and extended travel may be required.
