Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Water Resources Designer with at least 3 years of related experience to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to advance your career with a growing water resources practice focusing on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Studies, Watershed Modeling, Flood Mitigation, Stormwater Studies and Application Development.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tasks for a variety of water resources projects including dams, levee systems, watershed and floodplain studies and stormwater systems
  • Assist in FEMA Risk Map studies
  • Assist in United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) analyses
  • Effectively convey project work, schedules and results verbally, in emails, and in technical documents
  • Conduct field investigations on various projects including but not limited to: dam inspections, H&H evaluations, and levee inspections
  • Present project information at client and community meetings

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Has well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and conveyance engineering design.
  • Experience with model-build, calibration and verification; needs and alternative assessments, evaluation and defensible solution development.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
  • Prior experience performing engineering calculations
  • Prior experience writing technical documents
  • Possesses excellent time management skills
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with project team
  • Ability to learn independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Presentation and interview skills Preferred Additional Capabilities:
  • Engineering Software experience: o USACE HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), USACE HEC-HMS, and USACE HEC-DSSVue o EPA-SWMM and/or PC-SWMM o ESRI ArcPro
  • Advanced GIS experience such as Model Builder, Python, and advanced analysis tools
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++

Education and Experience

  • BS or MS degree in applicable engineering discipline required
  • 3+ years’ experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
