Job Title: 5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operator

Job Description

We are seeking skilled 5 Axis CNC Machinists/Operators to join our team on 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of 5 and 3 axis machines, cutters, and work holding tools to produce precision parts, ensuring product conformance through the use of precision instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and portable CMM or FARO.
  • Machine parts to specifications using 5 and 3 axis machines.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines per setup documentation.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to customer requirements using precision instruments.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine product conformance.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Consult with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel to verify technical information.
  • Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to make or repair customer product.
  • Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
  • Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience running 3,4, and 5 axis numerical control machines preferred
  • Experience with Mazak, Haas, DMG, Makino machines
  • Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, and Siemens Controls

Work Environment

Work within a machine shop handling sub-assemblies for aerospace, SpaceX, military projects, and more. Operate on 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday, 4:15pm-2:45am) or 3rd shift (Friday-Sunday, 4am-4:30pm), with 6-8 weeks of training before moving to an off shift. The environment is equipped with advanced technology such as HAAS Controls, Fanuc Based Controls, Siemens Based Controls, and a variety of precision instruments.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00/yr.
