Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a skilled Senior VisionPLUS Developer to design, develop, and maintain core banking and financial processing systems. You will work closely with business analysts and architects to enhance and implement solutions within the VisionPLUS platform, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. This role is vital in delivering reliable, efficient, and scalable financial processing solutions that support the organization’s growth and operational excellence.

Software Requirements

Required Software Skills:

• Proficient in CICS, COBOL, JCL, and File-Manager on z/OS systems
• Experience with version control tools: Endevor, ChangeMan
• Familiarity with Fault Analyzer (FAZ) and JIRA or equivalent issue tracking tools
• Knowledge of Mainframe scheduling tools (e.g., ESP, Control-M)
• Basic understanding of MQ, Rexx, and CICD pipelines (preferred)

Preferred Software Skills:

• Experience with Checkmarx or similar security testing tools
• Knowledge of DevOps tools and scripting (e.g., REXX scripting, scripting in MQ)

Overall Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance CICS and COBOL programs for VisionPLUS, specifically focusing on FAS, TRAMS, ITS modules
• Maintain and optimize batch and online processing flows within VisionPLUS systems, ensuring high performance and reliability
• Perform detailed code reviews, application audits, and inspections, ensuring adherence to quality and corporate standards
• Participate in formal reviews, walk-throughs, and audits for complex projects, providing input on compliance and best practices
• Investigate production incidents, analyze root causes, and deploy permanent fixes proactively
• Support version control, configuration management, and deployment activities within a DevOps and agile environment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application specialists, security, and QA teams to develop high-quality solutions
• Maintain comprehensive technical and functional documentation
• Contribute to the assessment and implementation of scheme (VISA & MasterCard) compliance and related transaction protocols
• Share knowledge, maintain a proactive approach, and foster a positive team environment

Technical Skills (By Category)

Languages & Mainframe Technologies:

• Required: COBOL, CICS, JCL, File-Manager, REXX (preferred)
• Optional: MQ, scripting languages for automation

Tools & Frameworks:

• Essential: Endevor, ChangeMan, Fault Analyzer (FAZ), Jira, QC (Quality Center)
• Preferred: CICD pipelines, Checkmarx for security, DevOps integrations

Databases & Data Management:

• Basic understanding of DB2 or other relational databases used with mainframe applications

Security & Compliance:

• Knowledge of Scheme (VISA & MasterCard) compliance protocols is highly desirable

Development & Operations:

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, continuous deployment, and agile delivery processes

Experience Requirements

• At least 7+ years of experience developing and supporting VisionPLUS modules
• Proven expertise in FAS, TRAMS, ITS modules with hands-on development in mainframe environments
• Strong knowledge of banking and financial processing workflows, especially in payments and credit card domains
• Experience working with DevOps and agile methodologies is preferred
• Prior involvement in scheme compliance projects (VISA, MasterCard) is advantageous

Day-to-Day Activities

• Develop, modify, and test COBOL and CICS programs for VisionPLUS modules
• Perform code reviews, application audits, and technical walkthroughs for ongoing projects
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly, implementing permanent solutions
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and application teams to ensure high-quality output
• Manage version control and deployment activities, ensuring adherence to standards
• Conduct impact analysis for change requests and interface with clients or internal teams for approvals
• Review and implement security or compliance updates related to scheme protocols
• Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and retrospectives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Certification or specialized training in mainframe development (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of VisionPLUS modules, especially FAS, TRAMS, ITS
• Familiarity with scheme (VISA & MasterCard) compliance standards
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexible hours as needed
