Team Profile:

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

Finance is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. They prepare external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting Finance, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. Finance is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review.

Position Description:

As part of Wealth Management Finance Business Unit Controllers, the individual will be part of the team covering the MS at Work and MS Wealth Management Canada business units. Key responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, and key metric reporting; overseeing the accuracy and completeness of the business units’ books and records, supporting new products and initiatives, including M&A activity; and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Key metric reporting and financial support for Wealth Management Canada, including monthly revenue and expense reporting
  • Budget and forecast preparation and subsequent variance analysis
  • Key metric reporting and analysis for MS at Work net acquired assets, net new assets, assets under management, and other KPI’s as needed.
  • Support Product Controllers team with monthly accruals, estimates, and analysis
  • Support for new product initiatives in Wealth Management Canada and MS at Work business units
  • Ad hoc requests, including client revenue reporting, financial analysis, and data reporting & analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least 2 years post-college experience in financial services industry
  • Understanding basic accounting and/or corporate finance
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables, manage expectations and complete deliverables in a timely manner with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal collaboration and team skills including working with cross-functional teams - proven flexibility, adaptability and reliability.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Expert level knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • 0 to 2 year CPA or aspiring CPA candidates encouraged but not mandatory
