Connected Devices is a term to call projects working on solutions for Axon devices communicates with their services or with each others. As QA, we're a crucial part of user experience in not only a standalone device but also a whole system of devices and services where communication, the role of "connected", brings new solutions to public safety and leave a positive impact on the world.

Participate in planning, estimating and prioritizing processes to ensure successful execution of testing activities for all projects, you will help us continually improve the quality of our existing products.

As a QA Engineering Manager, you will take the lead of the team of talented people, participate in planning, estimating, and prioritizing processes to ensure successful execution of testing activities, you will help us continually improve the quality of our existing products.

What You’ll Do

  • Ownership: You own the engineering processes, quality, and operational excellence of the products under your team’s purview.
  • Planning - You are responsible for the overall test strategy for your products. You make sure your team works closely with the Product and Engineering leaders to understand requirements, and deliverables and you own developing an end-to-end test strategy that includes manual and automated tests in different environments.
  • Load balancing: You have a unique view across Squads and can help with load-balancing people. One Squad may be building a new product while another may be in maintenance mode. Help facilitate getting people where they will be the most useful.
  • Operational Excellence - You are responsible for improving processes that help your team catch issues before they reach production. You are proactive in analyzing production issues and updating the test plans and strategies in order to find those issues in advance.
  • Career Growth - You are key to helping your employees get to the next levels of their careers. Each person is different and while we will have general guidance for expectations of different roles, it shouldn't be looked at as a set of checkboxes or how to get to the next title. It's quite possible people want to get experience opportunities outside of their normal roles. Know what they are interested in so you can keep an eye out for good opportunities.
  • Hiring - If you have openings on your team, you own filling those positions. The recruiting team is your partner to help, but the ultimate responsibility is for the hiring manager. Recruiting will often have different priorities. This will typically be your #1 priority.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of professional software testing experience managing complex software projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams of people towards a common goal.
  • Experience building QA team & process from scratch
  • Experience interviewing candidates as well as mentoring engineers and growing their careers.
  • Experience in software testing across a wide variety of applications and infrastructure components, QA processes, test management and automated testing tools
  • Hand on experience with automation solutions in multiple fields like UI, API and Performance testing such as Selenium, Karate, or Gatling
  • Experience with CI/CD like Teamcity, Jenkins and source code repositories (i.e. Git)
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments
  • Effective communication skills in English to be able to work across multiple international offices.
  • Experience in devices testing is a plus
