Job Description

Welcome to our innovative team at the Research and Data Science group at MUFG Investor Services! As an AI Support Engineer, you will be at the forefront of AI innovation, driving transformative changes in financial services technology. Our team thrives on curiosity and a passion for excellence, applying advanced techniques to solve complex business challenges.

In this role, you will develop cutting-edge AI applications, focusing initially on Generative AI and supporting AI in operations, while contributing to the AI projects of the Research and Data Science group. You’ll analyze financial data, integrate machine learning tools, and support our long-term AI strategy. Your expertise will help shape the future of financial technology, leveraging the latest methodologies to deliver impactful solutions.

We are looking for an AI Support Engineer to join us in driving AI innovation and making a lasting impact on financial services technology. As an AI Support Engineer, you will:

Solution Deployment and Development:

• Drive the creation of impactful solutions by utilizing 3rd party AI products, Open-Source technologies, and in-house innovations.
• Lead the development of technical solutions, spanning from high-level system design to application development and data integration.
• Monitoring existing AI systems for issues, bottlenecks, inefficiencies and other.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to harness 3rd party AI products, addressing challenges throughout the machine learning and data science lifecycle.
• Integrate 3rd party AI products and internally developed AI tools, accelerating transformative changes in financial services technology and customer experiences.

AI Strategy Implementation:

• Partner with Product teams and cross-functional units to implement AI strategies in adopting new methods and tools.
• Solicit continuous feedback from stakeholders to enhance and maintain developed models in production.

Qualifications

You Have:

MSc, MEng, BEng, PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or similar.

Work Experience:

Diverse Backgrounds Welcome: Finance experience is not required, making this role accessible to candidates from various backgrounds.

AI Experience: Generative AI experience is necessary for our current applications. It is essential to showcase the ability to engage in data science projects, implement and apply these skills to support Machine Learning and AI operations. Demonstrated experience with AI projects on Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms/services. Relevant certifications are highly regarded.

MLOps Proficiency or Enthusiasm: Demonstrated experience in MLOps is preferred, but candidates with a strong interest in MLOps who are eager to learn and apply these skills are also considered.

Functional/Technical Skills and Knowledge Requirement:

Learning Aptitude:

• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, acquire necessary skills, experiment, and effectively address challenges throughout project lifecycles.

AI/ML Enthusiasm:

• Demonstrated a strong interest in AI tools and their application to solving business problems, with an initial focus on Generative AI applications.

Solution-Oriented Approach:

• Enjoy enabling others through solutions and have a keen interest in testing, evaluating, and becoming a power-user of AI tools.
• Possess a results-focused mindset and exhibit creative problem-solving skills.

Programming Proficiency:

• Strong programming skills in Python are essential, while proficiency in other languages is a plus.

Effective Communication:

• Ability to communicate clearly with business, product, and technical teams regarding project statuses and challenges.

Data Engineering Skills:

• Strong data engineering skills, including data parsing, dataset wrangling, web scraping, data transformation, and data integration.

Cloud AI Knowledge:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services, tools and AI infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS AI services, tools and AI infrastructure.

Good to Have:

Data Engineering:

• General understanding of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Familiarity with Web Fundamentals, APIs, REST, Database Systems, and SQL.

Financial Acumen:

• Eagerness to acquire knowledge about financial concepts and address operational challenges within the domain.
