Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will manipulate engine components during the assembly process and learn the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This is not an assembly line or basic assembler position; we are looking for individuals with a strong mechanical inclination.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using various tools and equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications for custom engine assemblies.
  • Utilize torque wrenches, pneumatic air power tools, and DC tooling during the assembly process.
  • Review work instructions and document processes and progress using CPU skills.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines.
  • Ensure safety, fastening, sealing, hydraulic equipment, torque equipment, and quality standards are maintained.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in an industrial environment working with hands.
  • Experience using mechanical tooling, including torque equipment and DC tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience following written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
  • CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and processes.
  • Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment during training period.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance.
  • No diploma required.
  • Must score in the 21st percentile or above on the GL assessment.

Work Environment

Work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment, split between assembly and machine shop areas. The facility is clean and prioritizes safety, requiring PPE such as steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. The dress code is relaxed, allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and jeans. The facility is a tobacco-free campus with approved usage in a vehicle in the parking lot during breaks. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts with varying start times and compensation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
