Job Title: Tool and Die Maker

Job Description

As a Tool and Die Maker, you will utilize your expertise in interpreting specifications from blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to visualize the product and determine the materials required and machines to be used for fabricating parts and molds. You will be responsible for creating parts to print using a complete set of toolmaker skills and shop equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Possess a complete set of toolmaker skills with all shop equipment, including milling, lathe, precision grinding, polishing, and fitting.
  • Machine flat and contoured surfaces, grind and fit assemblies together using surface grinder.
  • Perform advanced manual machining operations with specified accuracy, including milling contours, engraving, turning threads, boring pockets, grinding flats, diameters, shoulders, slots, and dressing radii.
  • Maintain close and exacting tolerances and finish requirements, ensuring highest quality workmanship with minimal scrap.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of gages, precision measuring instruments, and necessary inspection equipment.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance in a team environment.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
  • Demonstrate 4 and 5 axis CNC skills for mill or lathe.
  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of detail cutting tool geometry for different cutting tool types and materials.
  • Set-up and assemble new equipment and support manufacturing and engineering on new and existing product lines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on injection molds, including electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Reverse engineer and manufacture mold components within time limitations.
  • Rebuild complete hot runner systems.
  • Utilize wire and sinker EDM experience.
  • Possess basic welding skills (TIG, Micro, or other) for minor touch-up work.
  • Complete complex mold repairs and spot shut-offs.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in tool and die making with surface grinding, EDM, injection molding, and progressive die.
  • Proficiency in using manual milling and injection molding techniques.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with progressive die tool and die making.
  • Ability to frequently stand, occasionally walk or sit, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Capability to frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $78000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
