Primary Responsibilities
As an Operations Manager, you will have direct responsibility for all aspects of multiple plant production departments, which encompasses managing and driving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Process Improvement, and employee development. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage employees in multiple plant departments. Foster an environment of coaching, teamwork, productivity, and employee retention and ensure expectations and results are communicated equitably and fairly.
- Develop and coach team members to foster a positive work environment focused on achieving business goals, while promoting employee engagement.
- Lead operational production planning to meet all shipment schedules. Develop and execute the agreed upon staffing plan and allocate resources accordingly.
- Actively lead the plant safety program and ensure leadership is monitoring all personnel for desired safety behaviors. Audit each work area for safety best practices and improve procedures where appropriate to make each job safer.
- Ensure that accountable areas achieve quality goals and that leaders are monitoring quality within their departments. Review plant procedures and modify as needed.
- Understand NVR and the plant's yearly business objectives, initiatives, and productivity and quality goals and ensure they are met or exceeded. Identify and implement projects or processes to achieve these goals. Drive process improvement throughout the plant, focusing on results and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensure an effective flow of communication between all levels of the organization, to ensure personnel are aware of their performance indicators, and expected results.
- Manage key controllable operating expenses and develop cost control plans. Drive innovation and capital improvements through the Manufacturing leadership team.
- Ensure that compensation, performance management, and plant rules are administered equitably and consistently. Make decisions and support plant management in hiring, disciplinary, termination, problem resolution, and employee investigation situations.
- Participate in broader company initiatives, as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience (Manufacturing experience strongly preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience with Lean and continuous improvement preferred
- Excellent problem-analysis, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities
- Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
- Outstanding collaboration and conflict management abilities
- Strong customer orientation
- Excellent reliability, with strong planning and organizational skills
- Focus on driving improvements within the organization and ability to influence others
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, decision-making, adapting, and meeting deadlines
- Ability to travel to other NVR plants and locations, as needed
