- This is an 18-month contract through CDW working for our end client. The position may convert to perm after the contract period.
- This role will require travel to various hospital campuses and ambulatory sites throughout Detroit and surrounding areas. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel between locations after initial reporting.
- Engineers will participate in a shared on-call rotation (roughly 1 week every 2 months).
- During on-call weeks, contractors will receive an additional $6/hour premium on top of their base pay.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are hiring multiple Field Network Engineers to support a large healthcare client across the Detroit metro area. This is a great opportunity for hands-on engineers who want to make an immediate impact helping transition and stabilize critical healthcare networks — covering 9 hospital campuses and 300+ ambulatory sites post-acquisition.
Target start: late July / early August.
What You’ll Do:
- Support and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks across hospital and clinic environments
- Perform CLI-based configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
- Participate in break/fix activities and day-to-day network operations
- Deliver new network functionality as part of the client’s insourcing transition
- Travel to assigned Detroit-area locations (mileage reimbursed after initial reporting)
Top Skills & Experience:
- Layer 1 & Layer 2 networking: TCP/IP, OSI model, subnetting, DHCP, Ethernet
- Command Line Interface (CLI) experience for config & troubleshooting
- Logical troubleshooting mindset; able to analyze and resolve network issues
- 2–4 years networking experience; CCNA coursework or progress preferred
- Familiarity with Cisco environments; Visio/network documentation skills a plus
- Healthcare environment familiarity and HIPAA knowledge a plus (not required)
Travel Expectations:
- Role involves travel between various Detroit-area sites.
- Initial period may require more site visits as transition ramps up.
- Most engineers will be assigned to 1–2 primary facilities, with some rotating across sites.
On-Call Rotation:
- Shared on-call rotation: approx. 1 week every 2 months
- $6/hr premium paid during on-call weeks
