Job Description:
The Stable Isotope Mass Spectrometry Laboratory in the Department of Geological Sciences is seeking a detail-oriented individual to assist with sample preparation and general lab work. The technician will be part of a team that measures stable isotopes of nitrogen, carbon, oxygen, hydrogen in a wide range of materials such as lake and marine sediment, plant tissue, animal tissue, water, and rock. The technician will weigh and transfer small samples prior to analysis. The technician will also use a wide variety of methods in preparation of samples including drying, grinding, acidifying, and organizing. Depending on the interest of the technician the job can include learning to use the mass spectrometers and elemental analyzers. Detailed training in all processes and procedures will be provided.
Expected Salary:
$15 to $20 per hour, commensurate on qualifications and experience.
