JOB OVERVIEW
Supervises the activities of the Quality team engaged in the audit process and data reporting. Is responsible for the administration aspect of the department. Participates in continuous improvement activities focusing on throughput, operating expenses, and inventory reduction, adding value, and improving the process. Create & update quality documents, including quality criteria, inspection procedures, measurement & testing procedures, sampling rules, packaging methods, defect codes definition, limit sample setting to guide inspections of finished products.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the team is trained to utilize inspection plans, product specs, and work instructions.
- Monitors the workload and daily priorities for the team.
- Answers questions about inspection plans and equipment operation.
- Applies basic troubleshooting skills to analyze equipment problems and interpret data from machinery.
- Notifies maintenance workers of equipment malfunctions, as necessary.
- Monitors audit throughput, inventory, and operational expenses
- Conveys relevant information to management regarding safety, quality, productivity, etc.
- Participates in team-based activities that focus on reducing waste, adding value, and improving the process used to audit components.
- Identifies and troubleshoots problems in the audit process, individually or as part of a team, and participates in problem analysis and solution implementation.
- Lead onsite customer complaint resolution through root cause analysis and corrective actions to ensure timely resolution to issues.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Demonstrated ability to mentor direct reports; coach, counsel, educate, successfully train, and motivate employees.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with manufacturing, quality standards, systems, and production scheduling in a capacity-constrained manufacturing environment are required.
- Ability to direct others within the process and meet department goals.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data from manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic mathematics, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Excellent communication skills, including expressing technical and non-technical issues verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical information and documents such as safety rules, operation and basic maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and work documents containing line graphs, tables, instrument gauges, maps, flowcharts, and diagrams.
- Ability to train others and give work instructions.
- Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in decision-making.
- Ability to participate as a team member in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent process identification, evaluation, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from management and other departments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
- Proficient computer uses at an intermediate level in the following applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year College; or three years combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years of related experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)
- Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
- Extensive use of office equipment, including computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business-related machines and software.
- Must be available to work overtime on short notice.
- Must be available to travel domestically and internationally on short notice to train and support quality efforts at all our suppliers.
- This role will be onsite, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, with occasional weekend work, as needed by the business**
