Position Summary

The Student Support Coordinator is a grant-funded position responsible for conducting academic assessment and individualized career assessments for individuals who are coming through the Workforce Education and Lifelong Learning (WELL) Program at the Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships. The Student Support Coordinator will conduct workforce development-related workshops and will regularly meet with WELL participants. The ideal candidate should possess a work ethic that encourages teamwork and innovation through adaptability, flexibility, and diplomacy. Moreover, they should have the ability to execute a collaborative approach to achieving goals.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • This position is a grant-funded.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience in psychology, human relations, social work, communications, workforce development, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of current labor market demands, barriers to employment, and established relationships with industry leaders and community organizations in North Philadelphia preferred.
  • Ability to work with a diverse adult population.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint or comparable software.
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel or coach using a strengths-based, individualized approach, especially for individuals with multiple barriers to employment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of staff, students, and participants.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and data management skills.

  • This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.
