The Work

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support multiple Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) programs and participate in all phases of the systems engineering process (system design, requirements development, modeling and simulation and test). The engineer will leverage RMS systems engineering processes and procedures while performing their respective engineering and verification activities.

In this important role, you will collaborate in an Agile environment with other engineering disciplines and program personnel. A desire to learn and adopt emerging technologies and tools will be key to success in this role.

The core responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Gathering requirements, defining system functionality and developing system requirements
  • Developing and executing test plans and procedures
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and identifying solutions for system capabilities
  • Taking ownership for increasingly difficult tasks, completing them on schedule, documenting results, and leading demonstrations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineer, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or closely related technical field
  • Experience with one or more of the following: system design/test, requirements management, or system verification & validation
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance at the SECRET level. U.S. Citizenship required.

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineer, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or closely related STEM field
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with an Agile framework or Atlassian tools such as Jira or Confluence
  • Experience working in a DevSecOps environment
  • Experience with engineering tools such as MATLAB, DOORs, Git or Cameo
  • Familiarity or interest in Model-Based Systems Engineering solutions

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $90,200 - $159,045. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
