Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is searching for a R&D Engineer in our Memphis, TN, Dallas, TX or Ft Worth, TX office. The R&D Engineer will develop and maintain a strategic training program for the Steel Structures engineering department. This position will be responsible for plant operation test facilities in support of strategic projects. The R&D Engineer will be recognized as a technical engineering authority within the area of specialization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop/maintain design tools and engineering documents
  • Participate in the development and testing of in-house design software
  • Facilitate the training of new and experienced engineers regarding all technical aspects of the product such as design software enhancements, design and analysis methods, materials, welding and technical marketing information
  • Develop new and/or upgrade existing technical documentation and standards such as the engineering design manual, material standards, fabrication tolerances and engineering references
  • Prepare information and perform internal, customer or conference technical presentations
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Research and Development

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with background in Structural Steel Design or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principals and concepts in the design of steel
  • Minimum 5 years of industry related experience
  • P.E. license desirable or the willingness to obtain
  • Experience with Structural Design Software
  • FEA experience desirable
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to act with initiative when problems arise
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and plant personnel
  • Ability to lead and manage R&D and Product Enhancement Projects
  • Meyer Specific Requirements (Internal Candidates Only)
    • Proficient in the design and optimization of all structure types
    • Comprehensive understanding of Meyer fabrication practices and tolerances
    • Complete understanding of project design loading and load cases
