Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports – including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

As a Prime Video technologist, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of the product, user experience, design, and technology required to deliver state-of-the-art experiences for our customers. We are looking for a Sr. Data Scientist that will work on modeling and metric development initiatives to shape our understanding customers' engagement with Prime Video, and help unlock new opportunities to elevate customer experiences.

Key job responsibilities

You will work closely with Product and Business Intelligence Engineers to develop, evaluate, and operationalize new metrics to measure the impact of our product launches on customers’ streaming needs and business outcomes. You will work on large, complex datasets to develop models which will provide data-driven insights into customers' streaming behaviors. You will identify simple and inventive approaches to increase the operational efficiency of models and metrics. You will collaborate with product leaders on deep dives whose outcomes will influence feature launch decisions.

A successful candidate for this role has excellent communication skills, especially with non-technical audiences. They are agile and capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment. They work effectively on a team of scientists, and use their technical judgment to drive meaningful discussions. They have a passion for solving customer problems, and have an excellent track-record on delivering impactful projects, simplifying their approaches where necessary. They work independently, but seek peer and stakeholder input and alignment on solution design decisions.

About the team

Prime Video’s Global App Experience – Product Analytics (GAE-PA) team leads engagement analytics for all Prime Video app experiences across mobile, living room, web, automotive, and VR platforms. We own 70+ core metrics used by 300+ PMs to drive key decisions and support multiple strategic company goals. As the dedicated analytics partner for the GAE product org, we focus on scalable data foundations, causal attribution, and GenAI-powered insights to accelerate decision-making and customer impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
  • 4+ years of data scientist experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of data visualization using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc. experience
  • Experience managing data pipelines
  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
