POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable
Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship by: Assisting the Anesthesia and Nursing
Personnel in the care of the surgical patient. Willing and able to float to all four hospitals: Palm Bay
Hospital, Cape Canaveral Hospital, Viera Hospital and Holmes Regional Medical Center. Flexibility with
shifts and assigned locations is an expectation of the position. A comprehensive orientation and On-the-job training at all 4 hospitals will be provided.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Floats to all 4 hospitals as needed and directed by float pool/ central resource team
2. Performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist in performing procedures for patients ranging from infancy to geriatrics
3. Performs routine and delegated duties according to all Health First and department policies
4. Works under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist, registered nurse
5. Utilizing the OR schedule, prepares OR rooms and other procedure areas where anesthesia is provided with appropriate equipment and supplies
6. Assembles and assist with the operation of specialized equipment such as humidification units;
fiberoptic endoscopic equipment, patient warming devices
7. Performs daily performance checks and troubleshoots anesthesia machines and equipment to ensure proper functioning prior to patient use, inspects for defects, and schedules repairs
8. Disinfects and sterilizes anesthesia instruments
9. Cleans anesthesia machines, monitors and equipment following procedures
10.Maintain immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures
11.Anticipates need for invasive monitoring according to daily OR schedule
12.Maintains an organized environment and supply storage areas
13.Has knowledge of basic monitoring functions
14.Assists with surgical room turnover as needed
15.Assists with positioning patients for surgery as needed
16.Assists with cleaning and stocking surgical areas as needed
Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience:
Licensure: N/A
Certification: Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Organized and can establish a good rapport with surgical staff and peers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate's degree or Technical degree
Work Experience: 2 years of experience
Licensure: N/A
Certification: Anesthesia Tech specializing in Anesthesia credentialed from the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians/Technologists (ASATT) preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (ADA, Travel, Environment, Noise)
Must be able to travel to all 4 hospitals
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Must be able to lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate patients/equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift
Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks
Must be physically agile and can stoop, kneel or crouch
Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range
Must pass color blindness test
