Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and sustain test processes for high-performance WSS modules in manufacturing.
  • Drive root cause investigations and lead structured failure analysis on in-process and returned units.
  • Utilize Lean methodology to lead cross-functional teams in resolving test-related issues and implementing robust corrective actions.
  • Analyze complex optical test data (e.g., IL, PDL, ER) to identify trends, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with R&D, NPI, Test Engineering, and Quality teams to transfer new products and processes into production seamlessly.
  • Define and implement test automation and software enhancements to improve throughput, repeatability, and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions, test specifications, calibration procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Support global production sites with test issue escalation, training, and process troubleshooting.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in optical test process engineering, ideally within the optical components or telecom industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of WSS architectures and optical testing methods (e.g., optical spectrum analysis, polarization effects, spectral flatness).
  • Proven expertise in failure analysis and structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa).
  • Strong data analysis capability using JMP, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with test systems and instrumentation such as tunable lasers, power meters, and optical switches.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a global environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in high-tech, fast-paced, high-mix, high-volume optical module production environments.
  • Knowledge of MES systems (e.g., Camstar) and SPC tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification will be an advantage.
  • Experience working at or with Lumentum or similar optical component manufacturers is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English is essential, as it is the primary language used for corporate communication. Applicants are required to submit a valid English language proficiency test score as part of the application process.
