About the Role

As a Privacy & AI Counsel at Hinge Health, you will play a leading role in ensuring the company&rsquos compliance with privacy and AI laws and regulations. You will work with other members of the Legal team on cross-functional teams with stakeholders from other groups, including IT, Security, Product, Engineering, R&D, Operations, and Compliance, to assess privacy risks and develop AI governance policies and best practices. You will also be responsible for negotiating DSAs, BAAs and reviewing other agreements for privacy and AI issues. This position is essential for safeguarding the privacy of our customers and members, staying up-to-date on emerging technology issues, and maintaining the trust they place in us.

What You&rsquoll Accomplish

• Develop and maintain, in collaboration with Compliance, privacy and AI policies and procedures in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Oversee privacy impact assessments and data protection impact assessments.
• Provide guidance on privacy and AI related issues to various departments within the company.
• Work with Product and R&D teams to embed privacy-by-design principles in design and execution decisions.
• Monitor and respond to privacy-related inquiries and complaints, and lead incident response along with Security and Compliance teams.
• Work with client-facing teams on privacy and AI related inquiries and oversight.
• Collaborate with the security team to ensure data protection measures are in place.

Hinge Health Hybrid Model

We believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days per week, for the full 8 hours of a typical business day. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program.

Basic Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3-5+ years of experience in privacy law and data protection.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR and CCPA.
• Experience working in the healthcare industry.
• Experience and comfort with working at both an operational and strategic level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or similar certification.
• Experience providing advice on digital health products, service designs and marketing initiatives from a data privacy perspective.
• Familiarity with privacy issues related to AI and machine learning, and general AI governance best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with managing people.

Compensation

This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. The annual salary range for this position is $204,000 - $306,000.
