Description
Responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day assignments for warehouse operations, focusing on Production/Operations, Safety, Continuous Improvement, Superior Quality, and Customer Fulfillment. Developing and maintaining an atmosphere that is safe, comfortable, and conducive to personal growth and development, while sustaining an atmosphere of positive morale.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key Performance Indicators: Effective Focused Leadership, Safety Compliance, Production Efficiency, Process/Continuous Improvement, Customer Service, Inventory Integrity & Accuracy, OSHA & EPA Compliance, Cost Containment/Improvement, Effective Equipment/Resource Utilization.
Leadership
- Overall Responsibility for assigned warehouse operations including but not limited to Safety and housekeeping. 5S, Lean, On Time Customer Delivery, Production Efficiency and Effectivity, Cost Control, Inventory Accuracy, Shipping, Receiving, Employee Development, and Compliance.
- Provide and monitor all required training for assigned employees including new employee 90-day training as assessment.
HS&E/Compliance
- Support and maintain a culture of Safety Awareness while enforcing company safety policies and procedures through total accountability at every level of the organization. Responsible for ensuring the warehouse is maintained in a safe/accident-free environment, ensuring full use of required PPE for all employees and visitors. Ensure monthly safety inspections are completed on time and unsafe conditions are corrected. Ensure full employee participation in all safety training and safety meetings.
- Accountability for all aspects of OSHA & EPA compliance related to warehouse operations.
Continuous Improvement
- Working with Operations Lead and Warehouse Manager to implement and maintain an environment of a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture at all levels of the warehouse operations.
- Housekeeping: Monitor and maintain established housekeeping standards and ensure the housekeeping in all areas of the warehouse (inside and outside) is maintained to an acceptable level throughout each day.
- 5S/Lean: Working with Operations Lead and Warehouse, monitor and maintain an environment of 5S and Lean concepts to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency
Productivity/Metrics/Operations
- Determine workflow for assigned shift.
- Work closely with other Warehouse Shift Lead and Operations Lead to assign and determine priorities for the day.
- Investigate and resolve issues involving personnel, equipment, and materials. Keep the Operations Lead apprised of issues and escalate these issues as necessary.
- Ensure all shipments are packaged adequately, ready on time, and processed correctly.
- Review paperwork to ensure accuracy and make sure the processes set forth are being followed properly.
- Work as part of the team to meet daily requirements and order fulfillment. Including, performing cutting, material handling (with the use of forklifts, side loaders, and electric pallet jacks), packing, and materials storage functions.
- Layout daily work and personnel assignments based on priority, delivery requirements, and workflow to ensure all requirements are met.
- Interview, coach, train, cross-train, and monitor the performance of Warehouse employees. Participate in the employee review process and performance improvement process.
- Ensure daily production/shipment schedules are executed and achieved efficiently.
- Understanding of equipment utilization and an effective plan to ensure maximum utilization.
- Proactively identify capacity constraints/bottleneck areas when schedules will not be met.
Inventory
- Inventory: Ensure daily cycle counts are completed. Responsible for inventory accuracy regarding heat lot traceability, quantity counts, and location accuracy.
- Maintain Inventory Integrity
- Maintain control of all scrap, ensuring accuracy of scrap inventory and compliance with scrap disposition policy.
Quality
- Fully support and enforce compliance with all ISO requirements.
- Ensure all products/shipments are packaged appropriately for damage-free delivery and to customer specifications.
- Conform to company Quality Policy, Ethics Guidelines, Safety and Environmental Policies, and Policies and Procedures in which we run the business.
- Responsible for 100% compliance with internal and customer quality requirements at all levels of warehouse operations, including but not limited to specification compliance, dimensional compliance, heat code traceability, export compliance, packaging, etc.
Ethics/Compliance
- Maintain a working environment that embodies the UPM and ONI Code of Conduct and Ethics policy.
- Actively contributes to the achievement of the Company’s goals for safety, security, compliance with company policies and procedures, OSHA Compliance, EPA Compliance, and Housekeeping 5S/Lean Culture.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises associates, where applicable. Personnel may include warehouse hourly employees, including Machine Operators, Pick/Pack Operators, and Shipping/Receiving.
Qualifications/Education or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Preferred – Previous leadership experience.
- Leadership (LEAP/Accountability) Training or a path identified to complete training for internal candidates.
- Must possess the ability to use and operate the following equipment and tools: Coil Cart, Micrometer, Calipers, Scale, Fork Truck, Bander, Bander Cutters, Side Loader, and computer. Previous experience preferred.
