Title: EC Compliance Specialist
Reports to: EC Director and EC Program Administrator
Terms of Employment: 10 Months
Salary: Pay Grade- Teacher Salary Schedule Plus Supplement
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The EC Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting the EC Director in completion and monitoring of compliance and EC timelines for students receiving EC services or in the referral process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Receive concerns regarding students with disabilities from principals, parents, students services, EC program administrator, EC director
- Facilitate training, support, and/or conduct Manifestation Determination Reviews for school administrators in conjunction with behavior support personnel
- Serve as LEA Representative as needed in IEP team meetings for separate class location determination, public separate setting consideration, and as assigned by EC Director or Program Administrator
- Assist in the oversight of timely completion (90 days) initial referrals and re-evaluations.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to collect EC data in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with instructional program specialists, coaches, and other district personnel as needed on compliance related issues
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs other related work as required
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or in the areas of English, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies with Special Education License in general or adapted curriculum. Master’s Degree preferred
- Preferred licensed or working towards license in Educational Leadership
- Minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience
- Experience developing IEPs
- Experience facilitating adult learning
- Experience leading teachers
- Proven record of improved student achievement at the school or district level
- Detailed knowledge of the IEP Process and compliance requirements
- Detailed knowledge of Easy IEP
- Detailed knowledge of the various areas of disabilities
- Detailed knowledge and experience with standards based instruction, assessment, and best practices, and modifications for students receiving special education services
- Detailed knowledge of Occupational Course of Study and Life Skills Curriculum
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple grade levels
- Ability to plan and implement short and long range goals and objectives
- Ability to work with collaborative teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of the MTSS process
- Excellent interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators, staff, and community members
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Some positions assigned to this class may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally
