Collins Aerospace is seeking qualified candidates for an experienced systems engineer, to lead the development of Flight Management Application content for C-130 aircraft within our Military Avionics & Helicopters Flight Management Applications department, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Our teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment focused on the design and development of Flight Management Software Applications.

Product Summary:

CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. What YOU will do:

  • You will coordinate with the domain product owner to provide technical leadership to the C-130 Flight Management Applications engineering team.
  • You will lead the development of navigation software for C-130 avionics, including creation of design approach reviews (DARs), requirements and software updates, and software verification
  • You will develop and communicate detailed implementation plans, securing stakeholder buy-in at all levels—from team members to external customers.
  • You will identify and mitigate risks, while capturing opportunities to enhance product capabilities and market reach.
  • You will champion knowledge sharing, elevating department expertise through both formal training and informal mentoring.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Proven experience in the design and development of deliverable software, ideally within a production or consumer-facing environment.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with DO-178 or similar certification-based development processes.
  • Familiarity with ARINC 661, DOORS, and Python scripting.
  • Experience in developing avionics displays and/or Flight Management Systems (FMS).
  • AGILE development methodology experience.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
