The Instructional Designer is responsible for building and maintaining all training material for IT and Epic applications including training environment(s). He/she provides expertise in areas of application responsibility and works closely with subject matter experts on designing training requirements that are built into the IT and/or Epic system(s) and building training plans that match end user workflows.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports all elements of training strategy, planning, design, development and delivery/implementation for designated IT and Epic application(s).
  • Responsible for development of detailed, workflow-based curriculum and for building, testing and maintaining the training environment for designated application(s).
  • Attends change control meetings and other meetings as required, including status meetings.
  • Ensures deliverables are approved by the appropriate members of the project team and are completed in accordance with the training strategy.
  • Develops appropriate assessment and evaluation tools for training. Determines the appropriate training modality (time, delivery method) for each user in designated IT and/or Epic application(s).
  • Trains and supports a team of credentialed trainers in IT and Epic application(s).
  • Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and delivery for super user and end user audiences.
  • Maintains training curriculum, training environment, and delivers ongoing education post go-live.
  • Develops, supports and maintains documentation and procedures as needed. Provides training to other IT staff and end user clients as appropriate.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, clinical field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Epic experience and certification is required or must become certified in Epic applications.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

5 years general computer experience, plus a combination of the following: 2 plus years of General Computer experience is required; 2 plus years of Healthcare experience is preferred; PC and Printer knowledge and experience is preferred. Call Management System, MS Visio, MS Project experience is preferred. Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite of applications. Demonstrated experience in one or more core Epic applications. Experience in applications for training documentation authoring and creation is highly preferred.
