McCarthy Building Companies is looking for Instrumentation & Controls Technician II for field work based out of our shop in Tomball, TX. The Field I&C Technician II will play an intermediate role in executing instrumentation and control system tasks. Building on foundational experience, this technician operates with moderate supervision to install, troubleshoot, and calibrate a wide variety of industrial equipment. The position requires both technical competency and the ability to assist in junior training and documentation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, calibrate, and test field instruments such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, and level controllers.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and I&C documentation.
- Perform intermediate troubleshooting of control loops and instrumentation systems.
- Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to evaluate device performance.
- Accurately document installations, test results, and calibration data.
- Uphold safety and quality standards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and NEC regulations.
- Begin mentoring apprentices and Technician I staff on installation techniques and safety procedures.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, multimeters, and diagnostic instrumentation.
- Solid understanding of instrumentation components and electrical circuits.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and interpret test data effectively.
- Strong organizational habits and a commitment to neat workmanship.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of relevant field experience.
- Familiarity with control panels, SCADA systems, and PLC interfaces.
- Prior experience in water and wastewater instrumentation applications.
- Technical certification or associate degree in instrumentation, automation, or a related field.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining pumps, motors, and valves
- Must have reliable transportation to/from the job site
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Must be self-motivated and can work well with others
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds
- Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Minimum age 18+
