Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. As a System Development Engineer at Project Kuiper you will build and maintain systems and software that support the Manufacturing Integrated Satellite Test value stream. You will utilize innovative solutions and leading-edge technology to solve difficult problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams such as operations, engineering, and quality to streamline production on the assembly lines through the use of custom software systems. You will provide insights to those teams as well based on the data derived from your systems and enable those teams to derive insights of their own.

Key job responsibilities

  • Build and maintain software systems in support of manufacturing test
  • Develop software packages to enable manufacturing engineers to automate processes
  • Collaborate on critical reporting to drive production improvement
  • Conduct root cause analysis and developing evidence-based solutions
  • Apply disciplined measurement and statistical methods to verify software
  • Develop and maintain robust testing infrastructure and verification processes

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
