Senior Full Stack Developer

What does a successful Senior Full Stack Developer do at Fiserv?

As a Full Stack Developer, you will be a part of a small but growing team of hardworking people responsible for creating and maintaining a suite of cutting-edge back-of-house web applications, point-of-sale APIs, and Android client applications in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Our Full Stack Developers utilize their Java Server Engineering and Web Development experience in understanding the constraints and needs of the business to elevate the quality of the output of the entire team over time. They lead by example, prioritize quality, and help define the long-term architecture for the full suite of applications. We are seeking flexible engineers who are not afraid to be involved in product discussions and work with multiple parts of the stack.

What you will do:

  • You’ll take ownership of one or more web services—adding new features, fixing bugs, and making improvements to keep the code clean and efficient.
  • You’ll design and build REST APIs that power our mobile apps, web dashboard, payment devices, and partner tools.
  • You’ll work closely with the product team to turn big ideas into practical, well-planned features that align with our goals.
  • You’ll lead your features from start to finish—building, launching, and keeping an eye on them once they’re live.
  • You’ll team up with infrastructure engineers to create data models that support fast, reliable services at scale.
  • You’ll write automated tests for your features and help QA build strong test strategies to keep everything working smoothly.
  • You’ll be part of a collaborative, agile team—sharing ideas, giving feedback, and joining planning sessions to keep projects on track.
  • You’ll join a regular on-call rotation, helping us quickly respond to any issues and keep our systems running smoothly.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java development.
  • Proven experience in backend server-side development.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript-based web development, particularly with TypeScript and React.
  • Strong understanding of modern web UI technologies including HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Experience working with MySQL or comparable relational databases.
  • Skilled in API design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles, including practical experience with Scrum.

What would be great to have:

  • Background in frontend JavaScript development, with exposure to web services, e-commerce platforms, or high-volume transactional systems.
  • Experience developing microservices, preferably using Spring Boot.
  • Familiarity with React, Ember, and other modern frontend frameworks.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as MochaJS, Selenium, or Cypress, and knowledge of CSS precompilers and build/package tools (e.g., Sass, Less, NPM, Grunt).
