Job Title: Utility Operator

Job Description

The utility operator is responsible for reading work orders or following oral instructions to determine materials to be mixed for each run. The role involves loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, racks, and shelves, either using a forklift or by hand. Additional tasks include loading resins into blenders, grinders, dryers, and hoppers by hand or vacuum system, maintaining and preparing packaging supplies, and ensuring all finished products are packaged correctly with the appropriate materials, labels, and details per customer specifications. Material handling and inventory control using barcode scanners are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist operators with stringing lines and taking rolls off machines.
  • Assist operators with roll data entry, roll changing, changing trim, mounting unwound rolls, cutovers, and cleaning the systems.
  • Assist the warehouse manager with monthly inventory.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information such as formulas, supplier names, materials, process conditions, and set-up information.
  • Perform other relevant duties as a utility worker.
  • Help machine operators by moving boxes, unloading trucks, and performing other assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to handle warehouse operations, including packaging, labeling, and material handling.
  • General labor skills, including packing and machine operation.
  • Customer service and retail experience.
  • Reliability and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred but not required.
  • Ability to take direction from multiple supervisors.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.50/hr.
