GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Web and Mobile Application Developer to join our team. This position reports to the ICIT Director of Web Services and Digital Presence and ICIT Webmaster. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and maintaining user-friendly, accessible, and responsive web applications, intranets/portals, and mobile applications for hunter.cuny.edu.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development-

  • Contribute to the planning, analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of web applications, including

the development of the Hunter College student portal and mobile application.

  • Create mobile applications for the College using Xamarin, Node.js, React Native, Flutter, or other crossplatform

frameworks, with REST APIs to support backend services and integrations with various systems.

Ensure that both web and mobile applications are responsive, accessible, and optimized for performance

across all browsers and devices.

  • Integrate applications with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) systems.
  • Develop and maintain PHP-based web applications to support college needs.
  • Write and maintain CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and Tailwind CSS for visually appealing and

functional designs.

  • Convert standard web pages to responsive designs across various platforms and browsers.
  • Support Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication, including SAML 2.0, LDAP, and OAuth-based

authentication.

Technical Implementation & Support-

  • Debug and enhance existing web applications.
  • Support and conduct maintenance on existing applications and systems, including vendor-provided

platforms.

  • Write scripts, programs, and database integrations with ERP, Content Management, and Cloud Computing

systems.

  • Provide technical support for vendor-provided platforms and in-house applications.
  • Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and ADA 508 accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Maintain and update code repositories, version control systems, and documentation.
  • Perform system administration tasks related to change control, and monitoring utilization.
  • Manage and maintain web servers such as IIS, Apache, and Nginx.

Web Design and Content Creation-

  1. Design, develop, and maintain User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) for hunter.cuny.edu.
  2. Create and update content on the College’s websites using content management systems (CMS)
  3. Implement and utilize SEO best practices.
  4. Develop multi-media and video content; ensuring all content is accessible and compliant with college web

content standards, policies, and procedures.

  1. Identify and update stale or outdated content.
  2. Utilize and enforce college brand and style guidelines across the entire digital presence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

The role requires proficiency in front-end and back-end development.

Technical Proficiency-

  1. Experience developing with .NET, C#, PHP, Java, and WordPress Content Management Systems.
  2. Strong knowledge of MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Visual Studio, JavaScript, Angular, AJAX, XML, HTML5,

and CSS3.

  1. Experience working with PowerShell scripting, Docker, and containerization.
  2. Proficiency in security protocols and firewall solutions.
  3. Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Source Control Software, and PeopleSoft Tools.
  4. Experience with ITSM systems such as ServiceNow and educational platforms like Blackboard LMS,

Brightspace LMS, DegreeWorks, and EAB Navigate.

  1. Experience with Google Analytics.
  2. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  3. Experience with user interface (UI) / user experience (UX) design, including wireframing.
  4. Experience with testing and debugging application code.

Soft Skills & Abilities-

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Experience in end-user training and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Technical writing experience for creating documentation, guides, and system manuals.

Candidates pass, and be reachable on the Promotion to IT Senior Associate, Exam #2085, or IT Senior Associate, Exam #2086, to be considered for the position.

COMPENSATION

IT Sr Associate - Levels 2- $114, 482 (salary subject to change based on new contract implementation and CUNY service history)
