Align

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Staff Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of large-scale engineering projects and driving innovation across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a track record of leadership, and a passion for mentoring and collaboration.

Role expectations

Scope & Complexity

• Tackles significant and unique engineering challenges requiring nuanced analysis and evaluation of abstract data and concepts.
• Leads the strategic direction and execution of large, complex projects with broad organizational impact.
• Contributes to the development of intellectual property through innovative ideas and technical insights.
• Recognized as a subject matter expert and sought after by peers and leadership for guidance and expertise.
• Builds and maintains formal networks across departments to coordinate and align efforts.

Expertise

• Serves as a division-level authority in one or more technical domains relevant to the business.
• Applies broad and deep technical knowledge to influence company objectives and drive creative, effective solutions.
• Operates at a level where technical committee reviews and other high-barrier evaluations are standard.

Leadership & Supervision

• Independently initiates and leads projects, from proposal through execution.
• Provides mentorship and technical leadership to peers and junior engineers.
• Plays a key role in shaping team culture and technical direction.

What we're looking for

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required.
• Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or PhD with 5+ years of experience preferred.
• 12+ years of directly related industry experience.
• Post-graduate coursework or certifications may be expected.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of innovation and technical leadership.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
